RUDE BOY 2
Kevo Abbra never forgets his roots. He accredits his artistic eye to his father for being his first point of reference to style.
The observation on how his father would choose an ensemble with purpose and wear it with dignity, helped him understand how clothing can paint about a feeling or emotion which evokes inspiration and insight. After his father’s passing, the artist embarked on a tribute journey dubbed ” REMEMBER THE RUDE BOY ” to honor his late father’s memory by curating styles and dressing up different kind of men in his local community and the globe at large.
This is a tribute to Kevo Abbra’s father by his former friends and colleagues in the tailoring industry in the ghetto who began fusing their own designs with the readily available thrift-store collectables. Every now and then they set up tribute shows in different hoods in Nairobi and model their latest collections, a testimony to the visionary that he was. The following are images from their Tribute Show in Kibera.
Little is known about them till now….
