THE CENTENNIAL

The Centennial is a collaborative visual project by Kevo Abbra and Ethiopian photographer Yonas Tadesse, exploring themes of cultural exchange, migration, and legacy along Africa’s coastal trade routes. Shot in the heritage-rich setting of Lamu, the project blends costume design, character styling, and photography to reimagine the chance encounters of African traders across time. Through layered textures, handcrafted props, and deeply symbolic wardrobe, Kevo and Yonas bring to life a story of connection that transcends borders and generations.

Currently, the team is seeking sponsorship to transform The Centennial into a full-scale public exhibition during the Lamu Cultural Festival. The vision is to create an immersive experience where audiences can step into this imagined world—celebrating African identity, memory, and movement in a space that honors the past while imagining a bold, unified future.
